The Eiffel Tower is one of the most famous landmarks in the world. Millions of tourists visit it every year. The Eiffel Tower is especially popular with lovers. Many consider it very romantic to propose at the top of the tower. However, in the beginning, the Eiffel Tower was a symbol of industrialization. Nowadays, it is recognized as a true architectural masterpiece. It has inspired many artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers, photographers and other art lovers. Tourists not only take pictures of it, but also want to climb to the top and capture the panorama of the city. Unfortunately, sometimes suicides also climb the Eiffel Tower.
The Eiffel Tower is called the "Iron Lady" - it is made entirely of iron, or more precisely steel structures.
The construction of the Eiffel Tower lasted 2 years, 2 months and 5 days and was completed in 1889 in connection with the World Exhibition held in Paris and the 100th anniversary of the Great French Revolution. Its author is Gustave Eiffel, whose bust is installed here.
The height of the Eiffel Tower with an antenna is 324 meters, its weight is 10,100 tons, the weight of the metal frame is 7,300 tons.
The Eiffel Tower consists of the following parts:
- Esplanade - lower square (level). Here is an information stand and a bust of Gustave Eiffel. Below are the surviving hydraulic mechanisms that provided the movement of the first elevators of the tower.
- First floor (level) - 57 meters. There is no observation deck here, although the glass floor is popular. On the first level you can relax, eat, watch a movie, buy souvenirs, learn more about the building through interactive stands. There is a restaurant "58 Tour Eiffel" and the Gustave Eiffel hall with panoramic windows;
- Second floor (level) - 115 meters. Here is the first observation deck, from which you can see the main sights of Paris, as well as a souvenir shop and the Jules Verne restaurant.
- Third floor (level) - 276 meters. From here you will have an impressive view of Paris. Here is the restored office of Gustave Eiffel, where you can see Eiffel meeting with the famous inventor Thomas Edison.
On this level you will find a bar, as well as an astronomical and meteorological observatory.
To climb the Eiffel Tower, you can use the stairs (a total of 1,792 steps) or the elevator (there are three of them). It should be noted that these elevators together travel 100,000 kilometers per year. This is the same as flying around the Earth 2.5 times.
There are copies of the Eiffel Tower in about thirty cities around the world. I offer you one of them, in Las Vegas:
It shines ten kilometers from the spotlight installed on the top of the Eiffel Tower.
Under the first balcony, on all four sides of the parapet, the names of 72 famous French scientists, engineers and those who made a special contribution to the creation of the first-born of Gustave Eiffel are engraved.
