According to many tourists, the Naples metro is the most beautiful in the whole world. Although it is very young and only opened in 1993, the first line stations have been included in the list of the best metro stations in the world for many years. The Naples metro is loved not only by local residents, but also by many visitors to the city. This is one of the attractions of Naples. The Naples metro is a system of high-speed transport lines. As a rule, it includes both capital lines and sections of suburban railway lines, as well as four funiculars.
In the second half of the 19th century and in the first half of the XX century, urban and suburban railways were carried out in Naples lines that were poorly connected to each other, although they had several underground sections. Construction of a unified network began only in 1976, but the first section of the metro was opened only in 1993. Later, new metro lines were created, and existing sections of railways and funiculars were combined into a single network.
Currently, the Naples metro includes two lines. The first line (yellow) - Piscinola - Garibaldi - consists of 18 stations. The length of the line is 18 kilometers. It connects the main railway station and the historical center with the northern part of the city. The plan is to continue it and close the circle.
This line is a work of art. Talented craftsmen worked on its interior. The creator of the Garibaldi station is the French architect Dominique Perrault. It is decorated with works by Michelangelo Pistoletto (winner of the Golden Lion at the 2003 Venice Biennale).

The sixth (blue) metro line - Mostra - Mergelina - consists of only 4 stations. Its length is 2.3 kilometers. It was launched in 2006. The construction of three more stations is being completed, after which the length will be 5.5 kilometers.
The first and sixth lines are managed by ANM. There is one more line - the second. It consists of 12 stations and its length is 16 kilometers. It is managed by Trenitalia. This line operates on the urban railway line that crosses Naples from west to east.
Each line has its own work schedule. For example, the first line is open from 06:00 to 23:15.
