The central square of Berlin - Alexanderplatz, which locals call Alex, is located in the historical quarter of the Mitte Königstadt district. Both Berliners and tourists love it. Alexanderplatz is the fourth most visited city in the world. 400 thousand people come here every day. If you are expecting to see ancient palaces and castle towers in this square, you will be disappointed. Today's Alexanderplatz is a symbol of the economic power and cultural prosperity of the German capital.
This place was once called Royal Square. In 1805, the Prussian King Frederick William III staged a parade here in honor of his guest, the Russian King Alexander I. To commemorate this event, the square was renamed Alexanderplatz.

Church of the Holy Virgin Mary - Marienkirche (Marienkirche):
The Cathedral of the 13th century is one of the oldest operating churches in Berlin, located in the historical center of the city, and the Church of St. Nicholas has been turned into a museum. One of the main attractions of the cathedral is the fresco “Dance of Death”, created during the Black Death epidemic of 1484. The paint on the fresco was so faded that it was almost impossible to make out anything, so church authorities placed a reproduction of it nearby. Another historical detail of the cathedral is the gilded silver organ, which Bach himself played.
"Neptune's Fountain":
It was created in the 19th century, but has stood on this site since the mid-20th century. The diameter of the pool is 18 meters. On its four sides at the edges there are figures of a seated woman, which are symbols of the main rivers of Prussia: the Rhine, Vistula, Oder and Elbe.
