1. Briefly about Paris

In the 3rd century BC, the Celtic tribe of the Parisii founded a settlement on the site of today's Ile de la Cité, which was named "Lutetia" ("lutum" means "mud" in Latin). Lutetia gradually became an important trading center, and in the 3rd century AD it was called Parisii. (The final "ж" in the word Paris is explained by the fact that it came into the Russian language through the Polish language.)

The coat of arms of Paris was first mentioned in the 12th century. It was approved by King Charles V in 1358. In the lower red part there is a silver sailboat floating in silver waves, in the upper blue part there are golden lilies, on top of which there is a crown with five towers. The coat of arms is olive green on both sides and surrounded by oak branches. At their base there is a silver ribbon with a motto in Latin: "Fluctuat nec mergitur", which means: "It rocks, but does not sink." Under the ribbon there are three orders: the Military Cross, the Order of the Legion of Honor and the Order of Liberation. The ship, which is common on the coats of arms of French coastal cities, symbolizes that Paris arose from a seaport. The golden lilies are the symbol of the Capetian dynasty, during whose reign Paris became the capital of France.

Administratively, Paris is part of the Ile-de-France region and forms both a department and a commune. The mayor of Paris is elected for a term of 6 years.

To fly to Paris, I recommend buying tickets from WizzAir. It will cost you less, but you should book your tickets in advance, several months in advance, as soon as a good option appears. In Paris, of course, you will need an apartment. It is better to book it in advance. To do this, visit the official websites of airbnb, booking.com or RoomGuru. If you take care of this in advance, you will definitely choose an option that suits you.

Please note that the routes given in point 1 are just options developed based on experience. The final decision is yours. You can refuse to visit any attractions and devote the freed time to something else, for example, shopping or a restaurant. Although you will have time to do it anyway. Perhaps, due to lack of time, you will not regret ten euros and prefer a short excursion by bus. If you read the articles below carefully, you will understand that they are intended for people of different tastes and capabilities.

Keep in mind that the number of people wishing to visit the main attractions of Paris is very large. In order not to waste precious time in line, I recommend buying tickets online in advance.
