 Berlin public transport

Berlin's public transport network consists of more than 2.5 thousand kilometers of metro lines, buses, trams and electric trains. A complex system covering all corners of the metropolis allows local residents and visitors to reach their destination quickly, punctually and inexpensively. All this is managed by several companies - BVG (Berlin Transport Company), DB, S-Bahn Berlin GmbH, VIP (Postdam Transport Company) and other companies that are partners of VBB (Transport Association Berlin- Brandenburg). Most of the transport services are provided by BVG, which has been operating since 1929. It carries about 1064 million passengers annually. Stops are announced on all types of transport except ferries. Almost all of them have a special electronic display with the names of stops.

Some types of tickets are sold directly from ticket machines located on trams and buses. These are single tickets, short trip tickets and day tickets.
