 Venice in two days

Seeing Venice in two days is a difficult task, but quite doable. Especially for those who visited this fabulous and romantic city on their own and can spend time at their own discretion, without any tour operators and mandatory tourist programs. You can take my advice into account and develop your own plan based on your taste and physical and financial capabilities. I will offer you this option. Carefully study the article Venice in 1 day and use it as a full or partial itinerary for the first day. Please read other articles carefully to plan better. Dedicate the second day to the sights, which I will talk about below.

So, I will list for you what else you can see in Venice that is not included in the itinerary of the first day.

Island of Murano:

Murano is one of the islands of the Venetian Lagoon, although in fact it consists of seven small islands separated from each other by canals. Murano has an area of 1.17 sq. km, and today it is home to about 4,500 people. Murano is a self-governing district of the Venetian Commune. It is also called "Little Venice".

The island is known primarily for its glassblowers and fine glassware. Here, in the Justinian Palace, there is a glass museum founded in 1861:

You can safely see with your own eyes how the process of making glass products occurs.

Murano has several other attractions. One of them is the Church of St. Mary and St. Donato (Basilika di Santa Maria e Donato). It was built in the XII century:

According to legend, the church contains the bones of a dragon killed by Saint Donatus.

Church of San Pietro Martire:

It was built in its original form in 1348, and in its current form in 1511.

Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli:

The history of this church begins in 1188, and in its current form it was built in 1498-1529.

Murano can be reached by vaporetto № 4.1, 4.2, 12, 18.

Now let's move on to the island of Burano:

This island can be seen from afar thanks to its vibrant colors. Only 3,000 people live on it. Burano is famous for its lace. Local residents prepare them using a special, unique technology.

This craft is associated with the main attraction of the island - the lace museum "Museo del Merletto":

In Burano you can buy things made by local craftsmen, although they are quite expensive.

On the main square of the island there is another attraction that the locals are proud of. This is a falling bell tower. It was built in the XV century using donations from the population. The interior is painted with frescoes by Tiepelo.

Due to land subsidence, it has gradually tilted and is currently tilted 1.8 meters, but is supported by another building.

You can get to the island of Burano by vaporetto №12 (departs from the stop Fondamente Nove) and №14 (departs from the stop S.Marco-S.Zaccaria (Pietà).
