Barcelona Metro

Barcelona's first metro line opened in 1924. Currently, the metro of the capital of Catalonia consists of 11 full-fledged lines and L12, which was separated from L6 in 2016 and has only two stations. Lines 1-5 and 9-11 are operated by TMB, and lines 6-8 and 12 by FGC. Barcelona metro lines are marked with a number and a specific color. The Montjuïc funicular is also part of the metro system. It is planned to expand the line L12 and carry out the line L13.

About 492 million passengers use the Barcelona Metro every year. The total length of its lines is 151 kilometers, and the number of stations is 187.

The Barcelona metro is distinguished by one feature, which is called the “Barcelona solution”: instead of two platforms at stations there are three - two on the edge and one “island”, that is, in the middle. Thus, enter the car possible from both sides, which is very convenient for passengers, and also reduces train delay time.

As the Barcelona Metro is operated by two companies, it is not possible to switch from the TMB to the FGC line with one ticket . If you need to make this crossing, you must exit and re-enter through another turnstile. If you have a single ticket, you will need to purchase a new ticket when you transfer to another company's line. If you have a travel card, for example, T-Casual, you can switch to another company's line within 1 hour and 15 minutes without paying again.

The stations of the company TMB are marked with a diamond and the letter M written on it, the company FGC has its own logo.

As we said above, there are 12 lines in the Barcelona metro. Each of them is marked with the letterLand a number, and they also differ from each other in color. This is:

- L2 (purple): Paral·lel–Badalona Pompeu Fabra;
