3. Metropolitan and funicular in Naples

The Naples Metropolitan is quite young. It was opened in 1993. It has 2 lines (1st and 6th) and 34 stations, the total length of the network is 34.8 km.

Line 1 of the Naples metro is a real underground museum of modern art. I propose a metro map:

The Naples Metropolitan also includes 4 lines of city funiculars: Chiaia, Montesanto, Centrale, Mergellina. Funiculars have played an important role in the city's transport system for more than a hundred years. They have 16 stations and carry about 60,000 passengers per day. Opening hours: 07:00-22:00.

4. Bus in Naples

Bus routes cover most of Naples, but this type of public transport is not very efficient, as the streets are congested, making movement very difficult.

Main routes:

Napoli - Mondragone - Baia Domizia. Last stop Piazza Garibaldi. It goes every half hour. (Company Ctp);

Napoli - Caserta. It moves from morning until late evening. Stops at Capodichino airport. (Company Ctp);

Napoli - Avellino. It runs every 20 minutes from morning until late evening. Last stop Piazza Garibaldi. (Company Air Mobilita);

Napoli — Amalfi. (Company Sita).

5. Tram in Naples

The Naples tram is a 10-kilometer system consisting of only 3 routes. The city's tram network has a long history. It all started in 1875, when the first Horse Car passed through Naples. The same tickets are valid for the tram as for any other public transport in the city.

6. Trolleybus in Naples

The trolleybus has been running in Naples since 1940. There are 2 city and 2 suburban routes. The trolleybus network is operated by two companies: ANM (urban route 201,202 and suburban route 254) and CTP Napoli (suburban route M13). The trolleybus also uses a standard ticket.

7. Train in Naples

Naples Central Train Station is located in Piazza Garibaldi. Trains of different classes arrive here from all over Italy. From here you can go to nearby cities of interest to tourists if you use the following routes: Napoli-Ercolano-Pompei scavi-Castellamare-Vico Equense-Sorrento; Napoli-Torre Annunziata-Pompei Santuario-Poggiomarino; Napoli-Ottaviano-Poggiomarino-Sarno; Napoli-Pomigliano-Nola-Baiano.

From here you can get to Rome, Milan, Florence, Venice, Salerno, Sorrento, Pompeii or anywhere else. Please note that there are high-speed, regular and economy trains with different ticket prices.

Sometimes lines №2, 3, 4, 5, 7 are also mentioned on maps of Naples. They are not formally owned by the Naples Metro, but are commuter rail lines operated by other rail operators.

8. Taxi in Naples

Taxi service is very popular in Naples, but keep in mind that taxis are not as convenient a way to get around crowded streets as buses. Taxis in Imilan are white. There are both municipal and private taxis. Getting into a taxi costs 3.50 euros on weekdays, 6.50 euros on Sundays and holidays. For every 48 meters, 0.05 euros are added, for each piece of luggage measuring more than 40x30x20 cm - 0.50 euros. In addition to the meter, in Naples there is a predetermined tariff for the main destinations (airport, center, port). In this case, when boarding, you will inform the driver of the required direction and add the words "tariffa predeterminista". The journey to the airport will cost you a maximum of 27 euros (depending on which part of the city you are coming from. For example, from the central train station this amount will be reduced to 18 euros).

Have a nice trip!
